Dear Michelle: Who  is Advising you? This is Not Your Best Look!

Picture
The Obamas on Innauguration day 2013
The Obama family is so breathtakingly beautiful that they could all show up in sacks and still look great. However....for me, what FLOTUS wears, in my opinion, is either a great hit or a great miss.

I was not impressed with the first inaugural outfit. It just seemed so...well.....off.

That color was awful and would be awful on anyone. I LOVE her in jewel tones and I just felt like this color did nothing for her complexion. It would do nothing for anyone's complexion.  Plus, is she wearing rhinestones on that outfit?

It seems to me that Michelle Obama really knows her body and how to dress for it and then someone intercedes and mucks it all up.
I must address the Michelle Obama BANG ISSUE! No, No, No...a million times NO!

It kind of looks like she got caught in the rain. You know, now that I look at that picture, how great would she look if she borrowed that hat from the lady behind her? That would be an outfit!

Plus, with that high collar coat, the bangs make her look kind of squatty. More like me.

Here's a woman with the most incredible cheekbones, skin and impossibly long regal neck and those bangs just seem to scrunch up her whole face. Who told her that was a good look? Ann Romney?

This remains my favorite Michelle Obama picture. It's such perfection.
My 2nd favorite picture of her:
Moving on....that coat!

Apparently it's a custom-made Thom Browne (whoever he is) and while I love the color and pattern, I would have preferred it not to be an A-line, and not so closed up at the top. Michelle actually looked too tight and uncomfortable in it.  I think if she had just added some kind of gorgeous winter white cashmere scarf, it  would break things up a bit. (You have got to look at Thom Browne in the picture at the bottom of the page I linked.)

I'm confused with the J. Crew belt though. I bet Thom Browne was really pissed off when she wore that. It looks like sometimes she's wearing it, then she's not wearing it, then she's wearing it again.

Love the boots, though!

p.s. Michelle, I am available to become your personal stylist. I work for $10.00 a day and if you throw in Medical, I'll work for $4.00!

So..what do you think? Agree?  Disagree?

I liked the coat, I think it looked a bit snug above the waist. I didn't see the dress underneath. The boots are the bomb and a great hook up with the coat. I'm still not sure about the bangs. She looks younger with them-maybe that's what she was going for. I know she just celebrated a birthday. I did not watch any of the inauguration festivities, so I caught some photo's online. It's funny, the photo's you liked I think made her look matronly. Even on a bad day, Mrs. O is still a show stopper--and Mr. President knows that. He made a comment to Jay Z "we have a lot in common--we both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than us". I think she should have worn matching gloves with both Jason Wu gowns she wore (2009 and 2013) to the ball--it would have been even classier. MO is a fashion icon--and if my figure didn't resemble Mrs. Potato Head :< I would emulate her style 24-7.

Hi Robin:

Interesting to read another take. I think, overall, people loved the coat. I don't know why, but it just doesn't look right. Actually, I think, less collar and a big wide belt in the middle.

I mean, she is a fashion icon. She can make the most ordinary clothes look amazing. For some reason, these inaugural clothes just don't impress me. I didn't even like the red gown she wore. Maybe it's just not fitted right...I'm not sure.

The bangs: You know, after you said that, I went back and looked and they do definitely make her look younger. I just don't think they do the most for her unbelievable cheekbones, etc.

I have the same Mrs. Potato Head look. What's wrong with that? It's a very attractive look, right?
