Frank the Trainer’s Top 7 Tips for Working Out in the Heat

Here are Frank the Trainer’s Top 7 Tips for Working Out in the Heat

Working out in the summer can be difficult  when the temperature starts to rise. But don’t let that be an excuse to not work out.

1. If it’s too hot out to do your walk outdoors, then go to a shopping mall or in a Walmart.

2. When walking in a mall or Walmart don’t shop. Just walk. You can shop later.

3. Always be safety conscious and try to take someone with you.

4. Continue to do your sit-ups and push-ups.

5. Drink an equal amount of water and sports drinks with electrolytes before, during and after your walk.

6. Carry a water bottle with you all of the time and drink even if you’re not thirsty.

7.  Also, try to get used to the heat by slowly spending more time outside while hydrating.

DON’T QUIT; KEEP MOVING!

Frank’s Fitness Installment 3

Here is Installment 3 from Frank’s Fitness

I know that for some of you, this is just really basic, beginning help to learn some fitness. However, that’s what I wanted:  A way for those of us who are just starting to get in shape without going overboard and ending up just giving up.

So here are more tips from Frank:

1.  Hopefully everyone is continuing their training with good results.

2. If you’re walking 15 minutes and it is going well, try to pick up the pace or go for 20 minutes.

3. Hopefully you are standing more instead of sitting more. (If you are able to.)

4. Try to eat more fruit and vegetables.

5.  Drink more water and no carbonated beverages. (This one I was surprised about, yet it does work.)

6.  Eat more protein from fish like salmon and tuna and skinless chicken and turkey.

Hang in there and don’t quit!

Weight Loss Journal Day 13

My Weight Loss Journal Day 13

I have been following the advice by Frank, the trainer.

I have started to walk 15 minutes and, strangely enough, had to stop 3 times during a lousy 15 minute walk. I didn’t realize how much time it has been since I’ve exercised.

I’m trying not to drink any carbonated beverages and have been following that quite closely. I must say that not drinking any soda has worked as far as the bloating that I normally have.

The stress I’ve had (below) has made following all the suggestions a little bit difficult.

I’ve lost a total of 2.5 pounds, (now 184.0) which isn’t the best, although I could have put weight on.

I’ve had a lot on my mind: Our little shi-tzu, Lulu, is very sick.

lulu at homeAbout a week ago, I noticed pink near her urine. I thought that maybe she had a cut on her paw.

I saw it again a couple of days later.

We immediately took her into the vet.

The Vet said that Lulu had a urinary tract infection. After using up the anti-biotics they gave us, we took her back to the Vet and she said that Lulu still had a UTI even after all the antibiotics.

They were trying for 7 hours to get a urinary sample and she just wouldn’t give it up.

It took us the whole weekend to get a clean urine sample for her.

She still has an infection.

They want to see exactly what kind of  infection she had with yet another urine sample and we’re just waiting to hear from them.

While I said that I was getting this great reward if I lost 15 pounds by my birthday, I have given that up towards Lulu’s health. Everything is adding up very quickly.

I just hope that they find out what’s wrong.

UPDATE:  The vet called today and said that Lulu was resistant to the 1st antibiotics and now she needs new antibiotics for the next 14 days.

If Lulu doesn’t get better, she will need an ultrasound.

I Am going to do this for 1 week and see what happens. I really don’t know why I have to give up soda, though. I’ll have to ask Frank about this one.

Anyhow, thanks, Frank, for giving us a starting point.

Well, here goes.

Introduction to My New Trainer, Frank Johnson

I Have Decided to Work Out With a Wonderful New Trainer, Frank Johnson

Google Image(google image)

I am obviously not making any strides in my weight, my health, or my eating, so I am bringing a pro into this.

Frank is, quite possibly, the most in-shape person I’ve ever met. He runs miles every day and lives the most healthy lifestyle of anyone I’ve ever met.

He isn’t the normal trainer for someone like me; he gets people who are already in shape and gets them in better shape to run in national marathons.

I want him to start with us on Day One, as if none of us have basically gotten into any form of exercise before.

I hope we can use his tips to springboard us into action.

Frank does not yet have his trainer’s license and I do not know any of your health situations, so I must make the standard disclaimer:
