The BioRepair-8 Anti-Aging Scalp & Hair System; My Journey is Beginning For a Cure for Alopecia and Balding

I Was Lucky Enough to be Sent the BioRepair – 8 Anti-Aging Scalp & Hair System for Balding and Alopecia.

August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month.

Perfect! A whole month devoted to making those of us with thinning hair become even more depressed.

As you know, if you’ve been keeping up with my blog, I suffer from alopecia (See My alopecia), which is an autoimmune disease that mistakenly attacks the follicles of your hair, causing anything from thinning hair to complete loss of all body hair.

My hair loss is a severe loss in the crown of my head and extreme thinning all over.

However, possible help has arrived in the form of an e-mail about this new vegan hair care 3-step system that specifically targets thinning hair.

Naturally, I was all over it. (I’m on several alopecia boards and would love to let them know of a system that actually works).

I wrote back and asked if I could try out their products and keep a journal with pictures of my progress for my readers and my alopecia friends on the Boards.

Within a few days, after some very nice words from a representative of the company, I received this lovely package:SONY DSC

This skin-care inspired, scientifically-advanced, three-step system uniquely targets the four main causes of female hair loss at the bio-cellular level to regenerate the scalp, improve strength and density, and deliver noticeably thicker, fuller hair. Using advanced ingredient technology derived from apple and grape, the products in the BioRepair-8 system deliver a cell complex that actives plant stem cells directly into the follicle to restore aging tissue. My Review of ‘Fat Chance’, the Reality TV Show on TLC

There is a New Show on TLC called ‘Fat Chance’ that Follows 8 different overweight people who lose a substantial amount of weight to get the Confidence to reveal to their ‘crush’ their real feelings.

As usual I’m late to the party as I had never heard about the ‘Fat Chance’ show before yesterday. It had been airing on TLC since February 24, 2016.

Each episode concentrates on 1 individual.

While this show seemed to contain all the elements to be considered cringe-worthy, I thought maybe I’d learn some great tips in losing weight.

According to TLC

With the help of a professional trainer, they will confront the scale – and some emotional roadblocks – while they learn to love themselves again, and find the courage to put their hearts on the line for a chance at love. “

This is just plain voyeurism on a dual level: Can the people lose the weight and, then, can they win at romance?

The episode I saw was with Vanessa, an accomplished musician who weighs 235 pounds. She wants to lose 100 pounds in 3 months in order to let her Crush’ ( a band mate) know how deep her feelings are. Is she out of her mind?

Here’s Vanessa before losing almost 91 pounds:

TLC Fat Chance TV show

I’m lost here because she looks so gorgeous to start with and, while it’s fine to want to lose some weight, isn’t it extreme to lose almost 100 pounds in 3 months?

We never see her consulting a doctor or even a nutritionist. We’re not given a list of approved foods or anything about other changes that have to be made other than mind-numbing workouts.

Vanessa just walks up to a trainer and says she wants to lose 100 pounds in 3 months so that she’ll be attractive enough to be able to reveal her “crush”.

Really? You really feel that you have to put your body in peril by pushing it beyond its natural limits and possibly causing permanent health damage?

Also, what does that say about your ‘crush”? That unless you’re the perfect weight, you are relegated to ‘friend’ status forever?

TLC has really been dropping the ball with its crazy shows lately.

In the spirit of fairness, I wanted to watch other episodes in order to see if all episodes were basically alike. I couldn’t bring them up on TLC or YouTube. Odd.

Vanessa loses 91 pounds in 3 months and, while she looks great and ready to confess her love, I think if she had just had a stylist and makeup person fix her up (as they had after the weight loss), she would have looked pretty close to the final result.

As for the ‘crush’, I never got the feeling that her feelings were reciprocated. Or, maybe it was just the big giant camera on his face as he sat there dumbstruck.

Oh well, that was three hellacious months gone down the tube.

Did you watch the show? What did you think?

A Review on the NEWEST Cover Girl Cosmetics: Mascara and Eyeliner

I was Given the Opportunity to  Do A Review on 2 of the Very New Cover Girl Cosmetics: The NEW Super Sizer by Lash Blast Mascara and Intensify Me! Eyeliner by LashBlast

Katy Perry for Cover Girl

I don’t think these Cover Girl cosmetics have even hit the stores yet.

The mascara came to me in the color ‘ Very Black’.This mascara comes closest to my beloved Chanel Mascara and, while there is a bit of a learning curve to it, I really love it.

The magic is in the wand which is slightly flexible and really gets every lash.

The directions state that you need to ‘Slightly twirl the Lash Styler as you apply’.

Here are my eyes with no mascara on them.

cgnomascara(Strangely, it looks like one eye is bigger than the other. Wonder what that is all about.)

You can see that my eyelashes are very sparse. I’m not sure if that’s due to my alopecia or just age.

I started out with one coat and I was impressed. I then kept putting on a few more coats and my eyelashes were starting to actually show up. I’m not a good photographer, however, and the picture below doesn’t really begin to show how great this mascara is.

If I needed to point out one not-so-positive detail about the mascara it is that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of product, especially if you are putting on multiple coats.

I’ve had the products on about 6 hours so far and there is no allergic feel to my eyes.covergirlmascaraon AlI I can say is that my eyes were transformed.

I love the inky black of both the liner and the mascara.

As for my eyes, I think that an eyelash curler would have proven effective.

You can see that I was even able to get the mascara on the bottom lashes.

I did use a lash comb at the end as the mascara can get clumpy and I probably should have used it after each coat.

The ‘Intensify Me!’ eyeliner by LashBlast is in the color ‘intense black.’

cgintensifymeBy flipping the eyeliner, you can make it as thin or thick as you want.

This, combined with the mascara, just really makes my eyes pop.

I was able to take the eyeliner and mascara off with 1 makeup wipe.

The mascara retails for $6.85 (prices may vary).

The Intensify Me! eyeliner sells for $8.00 (prices may vary).

Would I buy this again? Absolutely!!  It is, by far, my new favorite mascara and eyeliner.

Thank you so much to Cover Girl!

***While these were sent to me for my honest review,  no specifications were placed on me by Cover Girl.

Vogue Wigs.Com – A Review!

I am doing my review today on Vogue as this Is probably my 4th Order With them and they are so Wonderful!

I have always discussed how important it is for GREAT customer service as this is what makes you come back and back to a site. has that great customer service.

I have alopecia areata , which is when your immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles.. My form of alopecia is the kind that hair falls out for months and then will start to grow out again. I may go through several different cycles a year. There are other types of alopecia whereby you can lose all the hair from your body.

I’m at the point that I really don’t want to go out someplace special without putting in my hair.

I was diagnosed with alopecia areata more than 20 years ago, However, this time was different.

Here’s my journey with alopecia in the last 16 months.

This is my hair right before I was losing it about a year and a half ago:

Not great hair, but I could go without a wig.

One day last year, I woke up to see a lot of hair on my pillow. I thought it was a reaction to a new medication, so I stopped the medication immediately. It made no difference.

The worst it got was the picture on the left. However, after months of different vitamin cocktails, my hair started to come back. I thought. However, once again, my hair fell out when I was in the hospital about 6 months ago. I later found out that my husband was cleaning out the drain in the shower with a tweezers from all the hair that fell out when I washed it.

I could really see so much scalp that I needed to go from my brown/black shade (which I loved) to more of this copper shade  which I thought would make it a little bit easier to keep up with as far as coloring my hair. I also thought the gaping scalp wouldn’t show so much. I did it myself as I don’t think any hairdresser would take a chance on my losing even more of my hair.

This is pretty much how my hair looks now without the dye in:

I knew exactly what I wanted to cover my scalp because I had bought this extension before when my hair was darker. Of course I went to my fave:  Vogue Wigs, com and it  arrived in a few days.

The easiVolume hair extensions were voted the “best volumizing extension on the market!”

Below is the extension on the inside; you can’t see them here, however there are 4 clips.  Just because I’m lazy, I only use 2-3 clips.

For additional security, pull your hair through the honeycomb base.( I didn’t even realize it had that feature until I did this review.)

Everytime that I have used Vogue Wigs, it has been pain-free and the customer service has been exceptional.

The product gets to your door really quickly and is packed very nicely.

I went on the vogue webiste and picked the extension out in the beautiful color,’ Luscious Caramel’, and received it in a couple of days.

It was as pictured on the site, but it was too dark for me. (Totally my fault.) I never opened up the package  as I could tell right away that it was too dark.  I’ve had brown/black hair my whole life so I think I just went ahead and ordered my dark shade again.

I spoke to someone in Customer Service to see how to return the extension and if she had any suggestions on what I should order.  She made the recommendation that I might like the color ‘Root Beer Float’ which was sent right out to me and it came within about 3 days.

It was perfect! The color just really matched my new hair color. Here it is practically just out of the box and I loved it! My husband thought it was gorgeous! It just meshes in with my hair perfectly.

The way I usually wear my hair is fairly smoothed down as shown here:

voguewig45You can see that it’s just this beautiful sort of a copper color with blondish highlights. The official descrtiption:  Light Gold Brown (12) blended with Medium Brown Red.

I wasn’t able to capture how really full and gorgeous the hairpiece is (I am the worst photographer),  however, there is a lot of hair and highlights and it’s just gorgeous.

Most important, it is soooo light. You forget you even have it on.

As usual, Vogue did not disappoint.

This is the 10″ easiVolume Human Hair Extension by easihair  a 1-piece extension applied in minutes with attached clips without causing damage to your own .  This extension also comes in longer hair. I put it in so that it goes about up to the start of my bangs and clipped it in.

You do need enough hair for the clips to adhere to, The clips go all around and I feel very secure wearing this. I’ve never had one of these fall off or slip.  You just clip it into your hair, brush it for about a minute and go. More convenient than your own hair and you never have a ‘bad hair day’. If you’re looking for more coverage, such as a wig, there are some great choices there, also.

The price is $149.20 and check out the entire site. There are some pretty nice promos to get even more money off. They also have a wonderful Clearance section.,

The easiVolume hair extensions were voted the “best volumizing extension on the market!”

Vogue  has a ‘chat with Us’  button where you can talk to a geat Customer Service agent.

This hairpiece is 100 times better than the one I paid $1,000,00 for.

Check out the site and I’m sure you’ll find something you like whether for a medical reason or just to have a new look. There is a huge selection of  wigs, hairpieces, costume pieces, and much more in both real and synthetic hair.

Happy Shopping!

Don’t you love those finds in a drugstore that are cheap, easy to use and ACTUALLY WORK?

For those of you new to my site, you may not know that I have lost a huge amount of hair in the last 6 months due to alopecia, so I am constantly on the lookout for hairpieces, wigs, hats, etc.

The picture below is from about a month ago. My hair was wet when this picture was taken and you can see the extreme hairloss.

Here’s a picture of the top of my head, dry,  without using anything. Yes, that is my scalp showing through,

before applicationI did just a minor spraying into the roots and part area and I suddenly look like I have hair. I see in this picture that I needed to use more, however, I really wanted you to see it by using just a little bit of product.

After I waited the requisite 2-3 minutes, I fluffed it up with my brush (no teasing, no other products) and this is how it came out.

Now that I look at it, it kinda looks like Justin Bieber’s hair.

A couple of things:

When you first put it on, like hairspray, it kind of stings. Due to that, I will probably not be using it every day as I don’t know how bad it is for alopecians. However, the tiny little nozzle can really target those grays and at the part.

I don’t notice any fragrance and I’m really sensitive to fragrance.

butane , Hydrofluorocarbon 152A , Ethyl Trisiloxane , Trimethylsiloxysilicate , Methyl Trimethicone , fragrance , Iron Oxides , May Contain: Titanium Dioxide

Ammonia and peroxide free

No dyes

40 spray applications*

I believe the Gray Away  only comes in 4 colors:  Blonde, Auburn. Light Brown and Bl;ack/Dark Brown

**It is up to you to make sure you can use this, especially if you have allergies or are pregnant or nursing.

This was bought with my own money and this is, as usual, my honest opinion.

I cannot Find Anything in My Purse…Ever! I have decided to change all that and begin my New Year’s Resolution by starting with the Purse Organizer. I’ve always liked the look of them.

Here is my normally messy purse:

You can see that the purse is filled to the max; especially with kleenexes and receipts and power bars and pretty much anything else I can squeeze into it.  Once said item goes into that purse, it seems to disappear. I cannot find anything ever! It’s like the Bermuda Triangle in there. My car keys and house keys are somewhere in the bottom of that purse,  along with $50.00 in coins.

I have gotten so sick of it, I have ordered a purse organizer.

After checking out many of them, I decided to go with the Chameleon Handbag Organizer. They come in different sizes and some great colors.

I liked the fact that you could just pick up the organizer and change purses so easily, but, equally important was the number of pockets. It looked amazing to me.  I thought:  I’ll have a place to put my sunglasses, my tissues, my phone, my wallet. It seemed like the answer to my prayers. I would never have to dig around again.

There are a number of sizes of the Chameleon Handbag Organizer so it should fit any size bag you have.

I received it very quickly.

Here’s the picture of what it looks like.

I ordered it in a size ‘Large’ in the Lime Green color.

As soon as I received it. I knew right away that it would be too small for the BIG PURSES I usually use, but it still fit in really well and these organizers are made very well.

This organizer costs $25.00 plus $2.73 in postage.

I also really like the owner/designer Kathy Robinson.. She  makes these and she just kind of hypnotized me with her video. (I really need her voice at night because I could go right to sleep.)

Anyhoo…moving along, I had a lot of fun moving all my items out of my big bag into the organizer and putting everything into its own little compartment. My husband was watching me with a very sad look….as if he knew this would never work.

I thought: this could not fail; there was a pocket for everything.

I also liked that it was unstructured, so that it would fit into any style purse.

So…I began putting everything into its proper pocket, including putting in pens, which I usually hate to do because they always end up leaking.

Now, that seems really organized, right? WRONG!

It was now absolutely impossible for me to find things. All those pockets I had to go through was making me even more frustrated. , I finally had to pull it out and throw it to the back of my closet and I haven’t used it since.

This is not any reflection on ChameleonTheir organizers are great. FOR THE NORMAL PERSON!

I see on their site some great sales, including one of their X-large Handbag Organizers.

As for me….I’ll just have to continue digging and digging and digging through my purse which pretty much continues to exasperate me.

NEXT ATTEMPT AT ORGANIZATION:  My Closet! Surely, there are some great closet organizers, right?

If you have a method for me to get organized, I’m game to try anything.

Are you Looking for Quality Plus Size Activewear up to Size 6X?

Well, look no further. I am so proud to be an affiliate of JunoActive by, especially since I love their activewear and have been a customer of theirs for more than 7 years.

Junoactive was one of my first forays into online shopping.

They are also one of my 14 top online plus size stores. With their large size range, up to a size 6X, they offer top quality fabrics and long-lasting value.

Quality is so important to me and, after several years, I still have the items I bought. Made of the best materials, this activewear is just what we, as plus sized women, need  and this activewear feels soooo comfortable. I love the fit so much, that I wear it not only for working out but also for going out and just running everyday errands.

Be sure to check their Size Chart to ensure getting the perfect fit.

A couple of the things I’ve bought over the years:
QuikWik Long Capri

The QuikWik Long Capri

I love these. It has some ‘give’ as there is 10% spandex. I have these in 2 colors and I have had them for years and they’re still in great condition.

DESCRIPTION: Our best selling basic long-length capri gets an upgrade with our customer favorite flat elastic waistband with inner elasticized drawcord for customizable fit. Side seams for a better leg support, and flatlock seaming for no chafing.

These capris come in sizes XL-6X. They feel very true to size and sell for $59.95.

junobraGlamorise® No Bounce Camisole Sport Bra

I bought 2 similar to this, which looks like they’ve improved upon it.

DescriptionWith true support and bounce control, this bra is uniquely designed for the fuller figure.  Feel totally confident for all your activities, from the gym to walking.  It is so comfortable you’ll love wearing it all day long.  The unique camisole design looks pretty peaking out of a v-neck, and it also provides superior bounce control.  Extra plus size control comes from a soft wide band and an extra layer of support under the bust.  The fabrics are breathable and wicking, carefully selected to push moisture away from your skin, keeping you dry and comfortable.  Add this quick-drying bra to your travel packing list!  The back features supportive two way stretch and the wide shoulder straps are easily adjustable.

I really love these for traveling also. When you just want to wear something comfortable yet fitting at the same time.

These come in sizes 1X-4X and in 4 colors. They sell for $44.95.

Juno Active (originally Junonia) was begun in 1995 by Anne Kelly, who was at the gym in St. Paul, Minnesota, and wondered where all the larger women were getting their workout clothing. It turned out to be very sparse selection. She wanted workout clothing that also addressed the special needs of the larger active woman:  The innovation in chafe-reduction, bust support, and heat management addresses these needs.

You get what you pay for and, I admit, this not cheap clothing (although they always have several items on sale), however, these are the best for the plus sized woman and why would you want something that is inferior?

The site is very easy to navigate. You can order your clothing by activity or size or just look through everything and find what you love. There’s everything from outerwear to intimates.

I have never once had a problem with my orders.

Looking for a swimsuit that finally embraces your curves and is made to last, look no further than their famous AquaSport™ Crossback Tank Suit.

junoswim1junoswim2AquaSport™ Crossback Tank Suit

DescriptionHere are the two best reasons to buy this suit. First, it looks great on and feels equally good, with amazing support. We designed the cross back to flatter your back with a cute cutout, but more importantly, to be easy on-and-off. In addition, we designed it with full coverage at the underarm and leg, but without any restriction of movement.

This swimsuit has NO spandex, allowing you to keep your swimsuit in great condition for much longer than the average swimsuit.

This comes in 3 beautiful colors:  Black, Royal Purple and Sea Teal. Available sizes are from XL-6X and costs $89.95.

This is just one of their swimsuits. Check out their Aquasport Easy Zip Swimsuit, their AquaSport™ Long Shirred Neck Swimdress, and AquaSport™ Crossback Aquatard, among others.
