A haircut for a plus-size woman is the same as for a thinner woman; play up your best features and minimize the not-so-good.  A few fast hair rules:

1.    If you have a round face, a short hairstyle can make your face look rounder. Short, curly hair is worse.  Many hairstylists believe that a plus-size woman should never wear their hair shorter than shoulder length.  In order to add neck length, have your hair cut about 1/2 inch above your shoulders or more.

2.    Highlights are a great way to create a nice, balanced look.

3.    Take into account your face shape, neck, shoulders, and body proportion.

4.    For plus sized women, adding some volume or a little bit of height to your hair at the crown can make a rounder face look more slim.

5.   Instead of full bangs, go with wispy or to-the-side bangs.

6.  Find a picture of a haircut you like on a model with the same face shape, and show that to your stylist.

7.  Hair color and a body wave may be just what's needed to make for a fresher look.

8.  Forget a perfectly centered part; that rarely works on even a thin woman.  According to Tracy Olson, a stylist at Studio 10 in Woodstock, Illinois, "The number one rule to keep in mind is to never have the widest part of your hairstyle fall at the widest point of your face." If you have a square jaw, for example, having hair fall at the jawline will make  your head look like a triangle. “Naturally curly hair against broad cheekbones  will need some layering at the top or you’ll look like Roseanne Rosannadanna,”
says Olson.
